Indeed, God allows the People of the Book to migrate to other lands with money, horses, weapons, and food, if they wish. In accordance with the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny), they can migrate from any country to another if they are not of those who do not wish to live with the Muslims; they, however, should do it on their own responsibility and accountability. But the People of the Book are those whom the Messenger of God (Peace be upon him and his progeny) was commanded to fight. This is the proof of their disbelief. When they migrated, they were told that jihad was obligatory on them, and no one is allowed to shed the blood of the People of the Book in accordance with his own free will. Indeed, the jihad is a duty that is not incumbent on everyone, being incumbent only on those who love the religion of Islam. Although the conquest of Madinah was not through jihad, the Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) accepted and implemented it through it. However, it should be noted that if there are valid reasons for this form of jihad, then it is commanded to both men and women. Moreover, all Muslims must prepare themselves for it; for, when the Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) sent out his companions with the message and the example of God and his Messenger (peace be upon him and his progeny), he (the Prophet) indicated for those Muslims who were on the fringe of the Muslim state to fight with him and thus send him a clear message.
